3. Canopy and Lights

I currently have two 150W 10 000K Metal Halide lamps, and three 38W "normal output" fluorescent tubes (1 Triton, and 2 Marine Glo actinics), totalling 414W, or about 7.5 Watt/gallon (US), mounted in a wooden canopy.

The Canopy also contains a rather strong fan, which assists in the cooling of the lights, and also of the tank, by increasing water evaporation.
